Causes and troubleshooting of common failures of hydraulic oil cylinders

1. External leakage

The seal is damaged and deformed

If the seal is compressed and deformed, the apron should be replaced. If the seal fails due to high temperature, the apron should be replaced while eliminating the root cause of the high temperature. When repairing the damage of the rubber ring caused by the excessive clearance of the parts, the rubber ring should not be simply replaced. The method of replacing the parts should be used to improve the matching gap of the parts to prevent repeated damage to the seal.

Oil leakage caused by cracked upper cylinder cover

If the upper cover of the hydraulic cylinder is cracked, the lifting angle should be changed and the cylinder with unloading function should be used. Otherwise, the upper cover of the hydraulic cylinder will be cracked if it is only replaced.

Piston rod and guide sleeve are strained and cause oil leakage

Once the piston rod and guide sleeve are strained, they have no repair value and can only be scrapped. The piston rod should be prevented from bumping, bumping burrs should be removed at any time, and the dust ring that has lost its sealing function should be replaced. Pay attention to cleaning with oil.

2. Internal leakage

Piston rubber ring is worn, broken

If the abrasion occurs, check the cleanliness of the oil to prevent wear after replacing the apron. Check whether the pressure is too high if the apron is broken, and adjust the pressure to within the rated pressure. The piston and the cylinder are too large to cause internal leakage. Cannot be repaired should be returned to the factory

Piston and cylinder strain

For internal leakage caused by strain on the piston and cylinder, check whether the oil is clean while replacing the cylinder to prevent the strain from reappearing.

Aging of rubber ring loses its sealing function

The rubber ring deforms under pressure and should be replaced

Damaged retaining ring causes damage to the sealing rubber ring

The retaining ring on the piston is easy to cut during assembly. Once cut, it will affect the service life of the rubber ring and cause internal leakage. It is recommended to use special tools to prevent cutting.

3. Crawling

Air in the oil causes the cylinder to crawl

If there is a bleed screw on the oil cylinder, the air screw can be unscrewed to release the air. If there is no bleed screw, the oil cylinder can be raised and lowered repeatedly to the end, the gas can be discharged, and the crawling phenomenon can be eliminated.

There is little oil in the oil tank, and the oil cylinder is crawling due to the leaking of the air inlet pipe of the oil pump. Different methods should be adopted to eliminate the cylinder crawling fault for different reasons.
